Celebrations at The Natural History Museum, London, are centered on Darwin's 200th birthday in February 2009, but will begin in July 2008 by commemorating 150 years since Darwin first presented his theory to fellow scientists.

Darwin200 is a national programme of events celebrating Charles Darwin’s scientific ideas and their impact around his bicentenary on 12 February 2009. On Thursday 12 February, we celebrated 200 years since Charles Darwin, one of the world's most creative and influential thinkers, was born. Darwin200 is a national programme of events honouring his scientific ideas and their impact. Many celebrations are taking place during the next few months but will continue until 24 November 2009, the 150th anniversary of the publication of his famous book, On the Origin of Species.
